Pitt-Med Research Experience for Pre-matriculants

The goal of the PREP program is to provide highly motivated students who are admitted to Pitt Med with an accelerated research experience prior to matriculating into medical school. The program runs for 8 weeks prior to the start of Pitt Med orientation with flexible start and stop dates approved by the faculty mentor and program directors. Qualified applicants who have identified a mentor within the Pitt Schools of Health Sciences will be eligible to apply.

Deans Summer Research Project

Students may complete a Deans Summer Research Project (DSRP) between the first and second year that can count towards a Longitudinal Research Project (LRP); however, this summer work is not a requirement, and is not sufficient for completion of the LRP as this is expected to be a longitudinal experience.  Stipend support for students participating in the DSRP are awarded on a competitive basis and provided by the Dean of the School of Medicine and various government agencies (e.g. NIH), professional societies, named fellowships, various departments and divisions and alumni groups.
